How Washington State is Putting the Affordable into Affordable Health Care
For our next 2nd Wednesday Speaker Series, Nico Janssen from the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) presents "How Washington State is Putting the Affordable into Affordable Health Care".
To address rising health care costs which have created a persistent and growing challenge for the people and the businesses across our state, the Washington State Legislature directed the OIC and the Office of the Attorney General (AGO) to analyze policy approaches to improve health care affordability. This led to the OIC’s August 2024 Final Report on Health Care Affordability.
Our guest speaker will break down the approach, the new study, and the final recommendation with the five policy options that could improve health care affordability for all Washingtonians!
“Die-In” To Fight Corporate Health Insurance Greed
Come join us! Along with our chapter, allied single-payer organizations in the Seattle area, and several PNHP chapters across the country, we will gather to speak out and call attention to the issue of Medicare privatization. The Goal of the Action is to highlight egregious behavior of insurance corporations and reinforce the importance of strengthening - rather than privatizing - publicly financed health insurance programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. A "Die-In" will highlight that subscribers to Medicare Advantage would be less likely to die from cancer if they had Traditional Medicare. Gather at 11:45am next Monday, September 30th at the Jackson Federal Building in Seattle.
